Les Gets Focus – The Ultimate Family Resort
Les Gets truly has it all. When it comes to family-friendly resort facilities, snow coverage and year-round appeal, it’s easy to see why the resort is gaining both popularity and awareness with skiers from across Europe.
Situated at an altitude of 1172m and located just 70km from Geneva Airport, Les Gets is high enough to benefit from great snow levels and is close enough to the airport to make weekend ski trips a regular thing.
Les Gets shares its ski area with neighboring Morzine-Avoriaz and between them they offer 107km of pistes, which include 7 family-friendly green runs, 13 progressive blues, 26 challenging reds and 8 boast-worthy blacks. The resort also offers easy access into the wider Portes du Soleil, where you’ll find a further 543km of piste spread across 12 ski resorts and 2 different counties.
The resort usually opens for the winter season around mid-December, though snow conditions have seen Les Gets’ ski lifts whir into action early. The season stretches until mid-April, when spring skiing on tree-lined slopes under bright blue skies in the morning precedes lunch on a piste-side sun-soaked terrace.
Les Gets is home to several Alpine Lodges developments and many of our buyers tell us they chose the resort for its authentic village feel. Although Les Gets has come a long way since its rural farming beginnings, it has retained its character, charm and Savoyarde traditions. Several of our buyers also enjoy the resort’s year-round appeal, with summer holidays increasing in popularity over the past five years. Les Gets now hosts several high profile summer events, including the global mountain bike festival Crankworx and the Tour de France warm-up competition, the Criterium de Dauphine.
Several members of the Alpine Lodges team are lucky enough to call Les Gets home. Here’s their top five ‘Les Gets Must Dos’!
1 – Take a selfie with Mont Blanc – Europe’s highest peak is best viewed from the top of the Ranfolly chair. On a clear day the views are unmissable!
2 – Apres at the micro brewery – Le Pub Irlandais is a Les Gets institution, brewing its own beer and providing a fun post-ski atmosphere every night.
3 – Mont Chery – Les Gets’ very own mountain, we love the quiet pistes, especially after a fresh snowfall.
4 – Trail running – Marked runs and established routes are popping up all over Les Gets this summer.
5 – Le Lac – Enjoy a family picnic on the shores of Les Gets’ very own swimming lake, open all summer long.
