Where to Ski this Winter: Find out which ski resort is for you
It can be tough to pick where to ski in the winter, there are so many resorts to choose from! We’re happy to be able to offer you luxurious apartments and chalets in more resorts than ever before, but which is the right one for you? Depending on whether you’re travelling with family or with friends your needs can be very different, but not to worry, we’ve simplified the process for you. Here’s our ultimate guide on which ski resort is for you.
♥ Best for: Families, beginners, Alpine charm
It’s not often you find a ski resort that’s got bucket-loads of traditional Alpine charm with such easy access to the slopes, but Les Gets has both of these aspects in abundance. This traditional farming town boasts beautiful scenery alongside wide, tree-lined pistes that are perfect for beginner and intermediate skiers to enjoy. Kids will love the fun themed areas, boardercross course and snow park, while those wanting to explore will be happy that Les Gets is part of les Portes du Soleil, one of the world’s largest ski areas made up of twelve interconnected resorts across France and Switzerland. That’s lots of sightseeing right at your fingertips!
We recommend: Kilimandjaro, a collection of chalets a short walk from Les Gets centre, offering stunning views over the village and the perfect setting for a family or group holiday.
♥ Best for: Fine dining, a luxurious experience from start to finish, skiing for all abilities
Not only does Courchevel Moriond provide easy access to les Trois Vallées, the world’s largest connected ski area, it’s also renowned for its low-key luxury. Compared to the glitz and glam of neighbouring Courchevel 1850, Moriond offers a much more attractive price tag, a great range of fine dining options and casual yet upmarket atmosphere that’s perfect for families or groups of friends to enjoy. It’s also home to Aquamotion, an aquatic leisure area that will provide hours of fun for kids after a day on the slopes, as well as hours of relaxation for adults! If you’re visiting Courchevel Moriond this winter, don’t miss the opportunity to eat at our flagship restaurant, Bistrot Le C (rated excellent on TripAdvisor), and the two restaurants in our brand new residence, Manali Lodge, Bistrot Manali and Gaïa.
We recommend: Manali Lodge. Sitting directly on the slopes, be the first to stay in our newest collection of apartments and penthouses, featuring luxury hotel-style services including two restaurants, an in-house spa, fitness area, pool, private ski room and 24-hour concierge service.
Courchevel La Tania
♥ Best for: Alpine Charm, beautiful views, something for all budgets
Sitting at an altitude of 1400m, La Tania is one of the lowest but prettiest purpose-built ski resorts in France. This small, car-free village is an exception to the general lack of character in most man-made resorts; it’s surrounded by pine forests and has a real Alpine village atmosphere. It also offers excellent tree skiing for those cloudy days, stunning views and easy access to the rest of les Trois Vallées. If you’re skiing on a bit of a budget, La Tania is lower down than many of its neighbouring resorts, so you’ll find eating out and après drinks don’t break the bank, so there’s something for everyone.
We recommend: Yellowstone Lodge, four luxurious ski-in chalets, complete with hot tubs on the terraces, in a quiet but central location in La Tania.
♥ Best for: Beautiful architecture, a mix of abilities; there’s something for everyone!
Méribel is located at the heart of les Trois Vallées and truly offers something for everyone. Sitting at 1600m, it combines traditional architecture with high altitude which makes for a beautiful village atmosphere that’s guaranteed the best of the snowfall. Its central location within les Trois Vallées also gives you access to a huge range of terrain in all directions, meaning everyone in your group, from complete beginners to experts, will be able to find something to enjoy. Méribel also has a great snowpark, and you’ll find an excellent range of bars, restaurants, shops and leisure activities right at your fingertips.
We recommend: Own a home in Swan Lodge, ten luxury apartments in Méribel Centre, offering stunning views over the village, coming soon.
♥ Best for: Après ski and nightlife, advanced skiers and snowboarders
If you’re after some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Europe, as well as the best après and nightlife, there’s nowhere better than Val d’Isere. Here you’ll find no shortage of bars, restaurants and night clubs to keep you entertained in the evenings, from après specific bars to fine-dining eateries, and not forgetting la Folie Douce, which combines the best of both. On the mountain, you’ll also find a huge variety of things to do, from incredible snow parks to mind-blowing off-piste, as well as a great selection of steep, long slopes that lead all the way back to the village.
We Recommend: Become a homeowner at Vail Lodge; our brand new collection of 14 ski-in, ski-out apartments is currently under construction and selling fast!
♥ Best for: Advanced skiers and snowboarders, proximity to the slopes
Tignes and neighbouring resort Val d’Isère make up Espace Killy, which serve up 78 lifts, a glacier and over 300km of slopes. Tignes is made up of five different villages, and while they’re all completely different in character, they all offer excellent access to the ski area, which in turn offers some of the best piste and off-piste skiing in Europe. The season in Tignes can start as early as the end of September and last until well in to May, while the Grande Motte glacier is open during the summer as well. If you can’t get enough of skiing and snowboarding, Tignes is a snow-sure option that’s great for early-, late- and mid-season breaks.
We recommend: Our new project, Tignes Genesis, a redevelopment of Tignes le Lavachet. More information coming soon.
